This work
explores themes of femininity through a Persian cultural lens and my personal
experience of growing up in an Iranian home and an African society. Responding
to historic and contemporary representations of women, beauty, defiance, and
control, I use collage, self-portraiture, and still life photography as well as
performance works.
I stand in solidarity with racial and social
justice, and envision a world unified in its diversity
and truly equal for all womxn. Black Lives Matter.
