As the COVID-19 pandemic
spread across New York, fear gripped the city. I knew I had to photograph, but
I was as concerned as everyone else about catching the virus. For that reason,
I decided to drive through the city. I was afraid to get out of the car. So, I
began to photograph from the vantage point of the car. The car not only served as
my PPE (personal protective equipment), but also framed the outside world for
me, heightening the disconnect between ourselves and the world around us.
